Tizen smartwatches are in the market for a long time now. The Galaxy Watch 3 & Galaxy Watch Active 2 are the two veterans that successfully stood in the market. Both the watches run on the Tizen 5.5 version, which offers lots of advanced features. Now, as per the new rumors, it is not enough, and Samsung is thinking to ditch its home-grown Tizen operating system for the Wear OS platform. In the past, Gear S or Gear Live was the only Samsung watch that had run on Wear OS, or back then Android Wear platform.
Why Samsung will do it to its own OS and adopt Google’s smartwatch OS? Well, as per the report, Samsung could do it for the vast library of apps available for the Wear OS. It doesn’t mean Tizen doesn’t have any apps. The Galaxy Store on the Galaxy Watches gives you plenty of apps, watch faces, and few games. Despite the fact, Tizen has many apps, Wear OS is way bigger than Tizen, and most developers are working with it. Even the fact Wear OS is far ahead, battery life is always a concerning part of it, and that where Tizen wins by some margin.
It is not the first time we are hearing this news. In 2018, many rumors and tech experts were sure about the Wear OS on Gear S4, but that didn’t happen. Another report also claims, Samsung will launch the next smartwatch with both platforms, by launching two variants in the market. The next Samsung smartwatch will launch in the second half of this year, where we will get a clear picture.
