Samsung Gear S2 is now 2 year old smartwatch in market with the great fan following. After that Gear S3 and this year’s Gear Sport digital watches are next lineup in Gear. Although Samsung hasn’t given up on second generation Gear S2 model. On the regular basis Samsung releases some quality upgrades for the watch and that means lots to it. Now the latest software update released for Samsung Gear S2 is best example of it. It is not what users have expected in first place. I don’t think Samsung will release Tizen 3.0 software version on Gear S2, indeed it is just a smaller upgrade to improve user experience.
This update will bring battery optimization to your watch, in result you will get increased battery backup to run it last longer. It is not any kind of bug or software fault but with the latest battery optimization you will see some improvements. The other added feature is enhanced security to the device. It will add more security to the watch by killing many malicious bugs.
There is no other new features into it, except these two. It might be helpful if there would be features for watch faces support and added functions in Samsung’s own apps. Anyway we might see another support from Samsung in next update, I hope so.
The update is currently available for Samsung Gear S2 in Netherland. It will be coming this week in other countries. To update your watch go to Settings and then open Samsung Gear App. After that tap on About Gear option and grab new software update. The new firmware version is R732XXU2EQJ2 and only 22MB in size.
