It is now possible for customers to port out their Tizen platform smartwatch to Android Wear on their Samsung Gear S3. It runs on Tizen 2.4 version but the developer at XDA-Developers site claim that he have successfully run Android Wear on Gear S3 by rooting it. Rooting is very popular on smartphones and many customers like to tweak with their gadgets in their own way. This root concept is somehow new to the smartwatch market that no one before had tried it. But the new developer has showcased he did it successfully on his Gear S3.
Samsung is trying its best to keep ahead into the wearable market war with their new smartwatches and home grown Tizen platform. The first Samsung Gear S digital watch was running on Android Wear. Later from Gear S2 wearable Samsung has switched to Tizen operating system, their own operating system. Even the latest Gear S3 runs on Tizen 2.4 firmware version.
The developer at XDA-Developers Forum said it is possible to run Android Wear on both Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic. The source file is for the Exynos 7270 CPU along with the firmware read/write access. To do this users have permission to flash anything on the Gear S3 device. It also has sent some images of Android Wear 2.0 version running on Gear S3 device.
To do this all the stuff you have to root your Gear S3. If you don’t know anything about it you better first learn it or don’t do this. The project is currently in the initial stage and there are lots of work to do on it. The Tizen OS is not bad at all, it has its own unique features. And Android has its own advantages to run on smartwatches. If you still interested in Gear S3 rooting then follow the developer’s work on XDA-Developers thread.
