iPhone 18 Leaks: Camera Control Stays but Gets Cheaper Design

August 22, 2025

This week, the leaker on Weibo claimed about the absence of the Camera Control button on the standard iPhone 18 model. The news spread across the world within a few hours, and users gave mixed reactions to it. Now, a different rumor on the same platform came ahead, and denied the earlier rumor. The new tipster called ‘Instant Digital’ claims Apple will not ditch Camera Control from the iPhone 18, but it will redesign it.

By looking at the track records of both tipsters, the latter is more reliable and has predicted many leaks in the past. Instant Digital further mentions that Apple will only simplify the Camera Control button to reduce the cost of the device. It doesn’t mean it will totally discontinue the hardware part.

Currently, the Camera Control button is an essential hardware part on the iPhone, allowing users to control zoom and camera functions with more precision. However, the new leak suggests Apple may remove the capacitive element while retaining the pressure-sensitive function. This means users will still have the button, but it may feel less sophisticated compared to the current version.

If accurate, Apple’s decision seems to be a cost-cutting measure rather than a feature removal. With two conflicting leaks, it’s clear that Apple’s plans are not fully confirmed. However, the latest report makes it more likely that the Camera Control will stay on the iPhone 18, just in a simpler form.
