One UI 8.5 Firmware to Introduce Smart AI Call Screening Feature

October 8, 2025

Samsung is gearing up to introduce an exciting new feature with its upcoming One UI 8.5 update, Automatic Call Screening, powered by Galaxy AI. According to recent leaks, the feature will allow Galaxy phones to handle incoming calls intelligently, much like Google’s Pixel devices. The built-in AI assistant will be able to automatically answer, transcribe, and screen calls in real time, helping users filter out spam, telemarketing, or unwanted calls without lifting a finger.

The leaked code also suggests that Samsung will offer extensive customization options, allowing users to control when and how the automatic call screening feature activates. For instance, users may be able to set preferences for unknown numbers, business calls, or suspected spam, giving them greater flexibility and privacy. This makes it one of the most practical AI additions Samsung has introduced for its Galaxy ecosystem so far.

One UI 8.5 Update

One UI 8.5 is shaping up to be a major update, far more significant than the earlier One UI 8 release. Sources indicate that Samsung is saving many of its major AI and system-level improvements for this 8.5 update, which will reportedly be based on Android 16 QPR2. This means Galaxy devices will also benefit from Google’s latest performance optimizations and security features alongside Samsung’s unique enhancements.

This feature will come with the next One UI update, which will be first introduced on Galaxy S26 series devices.
