Galaxy A53 has become three years old, but the company is still bringing it into the light with the latest software version. Now, Samsung has released this year’s first January securty patch to the smartphone. It has already been dispatched to the Galaxy A54, Galaxy A55 & Galaxy A56, and now Galaxy A53 is having it. The update is now reaching devices in select regions and is expected to expand more widely in the coming days.
As per the update details, the Galaxy A53 is receiving One UI 8.0 based on Android 16. The firmware includes the January 1, 2026, security patch, which improves device protection by fixing known vulnerabilities at both the system and application levels. Samsung also confirms that after installing this update, users will not be able to downgrade to an older software version due to changes in the security policy.

The update comes with firmware version A536EXXSJGZA2, with a download size of around 279 MB. Since this is primarily a security-focused update, users should not expect major visual changes, but they can look forward to better system stability, smoother performance, and improved reliability during everyday usage. Samsung notes that update availability may vary depending on the device model, country, and network operator.
Users are advised to keep their devices up to date to ensure the best possible performance and security. Galaxy A53 users can manually check for the update by going to Settings, selecting Software update, and tapping Download and install. It is recommended to use a stable Wi-Fi connection and ensure sufficient battery charge before proceeding with the installation.
