Galaxy Z Fold 8 May Not Be Alone as Samsung Teases Another Foldable

February 4, 2026

Samsung is expected to expand its foldable smartphone portfolio further this year, and new evidence suggests that the company may launch an additional model alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Referred to by leaks as a possible “Wide” Fold, this mysterious device now appears likely to debut in multiple global markets, including the United States. The new IMEI database listing includes several regional variants, covering China, Canada, the US, South Korea, and global markets.

While Samsung has not confirmed the identity of this device, the presence of region-specific models strongly hints at a wider release rather than a limited or experimental product. The device carries the model number SM-F971, which closely aligns with Samsung’s established naming pattern for its foldable phones. For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 carried the model number SM-F966, while the Fold 6 used SM-F956. With the Galaxy Z Fold 8 expected to arrive as SM-F976, the SM-F971 places the mystery phone much closer to the Fold lineup than the Flip series, which uses a different numbering range.

Additional clues come from the internal codename listed in the database: H8. Historically, Samsung’s Fold devices use codenames starting with the letter Q, followed by the generation number, while Flip models follow a B-series naming scheme. This strengthens the theory that Samsung is preparing a new foldable form factor, widely believed to be the rumored Wide Fold.

While it’s still possible that this could be an entirely new and unannounced foldable series, current evidence points toward a broader Fold-style device designed to offer a larger display experience. If true, Samsung’s foldable strategy in 2026 could be its most diverse yet.
