Amazon Echo Buds Receives Major Firmware Update

Amazon’s Echo Buds are getting a new feature which will give the users an added benefit of tracking your workouts. With the truly wireless earbuds (TWS) backed by Alexa’s voice commands, you can track not only your workout but also your walks and runs accurately with the calories burnt. Just ask the built-in voice assistant to start tracking your workout its that’s simple. The Echo Buds also support access to Siri and Google Assistant along with their own Alexa.

The TWS also has amazing features like a hands-free experience to listen to your favorite music, voice calling, getting guided directions and you can also listen to your Audible audiobooks. The workout tracking will provide the user with detailed information on the calories burnt, the pace of the workout, the distance covered along the steps taken for it, and the total time taken to complete the session.

Amazon Echo Buds Update

Once updated, the TWS can start tracking by simply asking Alexa “Alexa, start my run” or “Alexa, start my walk”. The users can also see if the target they have set for the workout is achieved or not by saying Alexa, how far have I run?” or “Alexa, what’s my pace?”. Convenient right? It even has its built-in accelerometers and will also create the ‘Workout Profile’ section on the Alexa app. The update will soon roll out in the coming days hopefully.

To enable the feature once updated you have to ask the voice assistant to “start a workout”. Once done, you can end tracking by saying, “End my workout”. This added feature will surely act as a though blow to its competitors like Apple’s Air Pods and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live who yet haven’t supported this feature.
