Importing of devices that were built in china will be finding it to enter Indian markets now. There is a growing tension between the two, and taking this under consideration brands like Xiaomi and Apple are finding it difficult to import their smartphones. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been monitoring all the imports and has been implementing more restrictions on the importing of goods made in china.
According to the Prime Minister of India he wants us to be self-sufficient and self-reliant, giving local vendors and productions more importance rather than importing goods. This move by the government also lead to banning 118 apps and including the most popular ones like PUBG Mobile, TikTok, Beauty Camera Plus, and recently even AliExpress – Smarter Shopping, Better Living.
Due to this Apple’s iPhone 12 is facing difficulty and even smart wearables by Oppo and Xiaomi that were launched recently. With the holiday season rolling in the delay in getting the products will be another problem that the Indian retailers will face this year with already slow market conditions prevailing. Earlier BIS would process the documentation of the new products within 15 working days but now it is taking more than a month to process the same paperwork.
We do think that BIS company will start their assembly in India soon that will help with the delayed conditions but nothing is yet confirmed by the company. With the increasing number of activist groups asking people to boycott imported goods from China, new certification was required by companies Samsung and Xiaomi for even importing TV sets back in July.
