In the latest update for Fenix 6 Series & Forerunner 945 smartwatches, Garmin has launched new Smart Trainer function. The all Fenix 6 series & Forerunner 945 watches gets it in the Bike Indoor trainer menu. If you wonder, then you get the feature in the latest beta versions of both watches. It is not the new feature for other Garmin users. The previous Edge series devices have this function since the beginning. So what is the Smart Trainer? Well, the smart trainer is smart menu from the Garmin that allows users to connect the trainer to third-party apps and join the course such as activities, workouts or other courses.
You will not see the feature on your smartwatch, unless you start the Bike Indoor trainer activity, mentions trusted source. Once the you start the Bike Indoor activity, the popup will appear on the screen. Then hold down a left menu option, and you will see the ‘Smart Trainer Options’. When you open the option, then you will see lots of features inside it. Some worthy features inside the Smart Trainer are, free ride, set power, set grade, follow course, follow workout and set resistance, etc. You can choose any of the course and start it, and further, you can sync other app data like Strava on the trainer.
It is the best option for users to use on Fenix 6 & Forerunner 945 watches, and I guess, Garmin will bring it to the more devices. You will not see this function on your watch is because it has introduced in Beta version 10.78 for Fenix 6, 6 Pro, 6S, 6S Pro, 6X Pro and all their Solar variants. For Forerunner 945, you have to install new 4.87 Beta version. You can wait for a official stable version to get the smart trainer feature, or if you want to try it now, then install beta version.
