Google has finally talked about its roadmap for the upcoming Wear OS 3.0 software version. In the official blog post, the company revealed the Samsung smartwatches of 2021 will receive the Wear OS 3.0 firmware version right from the launching date. These are the first smartwatches to get the latest software before any other wearables. Samsung has planned to reveal Galaxy Watch 4 & Galaxy Watch 4 Classic on August 11, and Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Flip 3 will share the same stage.
Mobvoi users are not lucky to use Wear OS 3 at the end of this year, which makes the previous statement false. Though Galaxy Watch 4 series runs on a new interface from August, other eligible watches will get the update in the second or third quarters of 2022. The eligible watches to run on Wear OS 3.0 are Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3, TicWatch E3, upcoming flagship Mobvoi devices, and Fossil future smartwatches. According to the report, Fossil will announce Gen 6 or similar devices later this year.
The new Wear OS 3.0 software brings faster performance, 30% better app openings, accurate health tracking, and longer battery life. It allows more third-party apps & watch faces to launch in Google Play Store. Google also bringing improved GBoard & YouTube Music apps to the Galaxy Watch 4 & 4 Classic. More Wear OS 3.0 features are still in dark, that may come to light in the next Galaxy Unpacked event.
