This year, Samsung has changed its strategy for foldable phones, especially for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the result is massive. With Fold 7, the company changed its design, reduced its weight and thickness, which resulted in huge numbers of sales. Now, Samsung wants to continue this magic with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 to stay strong in the market and to counter Chinese rivals. According to the new report from South Korea, Samsung will reduce the weight and thickness of the Flip 8 by 10% to the current model.
If this becomes reality, then the weight of the next clamshell model will be reduced to 170g, and it will be 6mm thin when opened and 12mm thin when closed. The weight of the next Flip will be similar to the current Galaxy S25 and a little bigger than the Galaxy S25 Edge.
With the reduced weight and thickness, users can obviously think about the battery life. If the company wants to go this way, then Samsung may have already thought about this, so we have to wait for the confirmation.

For the next year, Samsung wants to achieve 10% more sales from the foldable market, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 & Flip 8 could play major roles in it. Like Fold 7, if Flip 8 goes with a massive transformation, then the number is achievable.
Further, as per the sources, Apple will also enter this market with its first iPhone Fold device. Apple could launch its fold in September, where we can also see other foldables from Google, Huawei, and others.
