Oppo has launched its first true or premium smartwatch in March 2020. The Oppo Watch runs on Wear OS by Google, and it is much enhanced than the other Wear OS smartwatches. The company is moving forward to launch its second smartwatch in the market that will be categorized as a sports watch. How did we know? Well, recently Oppo has registered trademark ‘Oppo Watch Free’ with the EU’s Intellectual Property Office. Thanks to the LetGoDigital website we know the existence of the upcoming smartwatch.
The file has mentioned Sports watches on the website page, so we can assure it is a sports watch. The new watch may launch with the Wear OS platform, but the size could be smaller than the current models. The Oppo Watch has launched with 41mm & 46mm sizes. This month, Samsung & Google have partnered with each other for the future of their wearable devices. Samsung will close its home-grown Tizen OS for the Wear OS. All the upcoming Samsung smartwatches will run on Wear OS by Google. This decision by Samsung could give tough competition to Oppo and its upcoming watches.
Google also serious about the Wear OS platform, and the next massive firmware update is a sign of it. In the Google I/O event, the company has hinted major changes are coming to the watches. The recent Google Keyboard update is an early sign of it. Another Chinese company Meizu is preparing for Meizu Watch with Wear OS & Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC, and that will launch on May 31. The new Oppo Watch Free will give another choice to users in the Wear OS platform.
