Qualcomm revealed its latest chipset, The Snapdragon Wear 3100 which is meant for wearables and it will replace the old one Snapdragon Wear 2100. This new chip which is exclusively made for the smartwatches will bring the promising changes in the Wear OS devices. Qualcomm’s new chip is meant to extended battery life for the smart wearables. The battery life on wearables are big issue for many users. Almost all smartwatches give poor battery life in a single charge.
With the latest chip you should be able to use the smartwatches for 4-12 more hours compared to its predecessor versions. This will enable you to save your battery and use the smartwatch for more hours with improved battery life.
The improved battery life of the devices using Snapdragon Wear 3100 will be added advantage for the users to experience more personalized time like exercise tracking and sleep monitoring. Compared to Snapdragon Wear 2100 the new chip will give more battery life with the same battery size. The Snapdragon Wear 3100 has the QCC1110 co-processor, that is equipped to perform several functions along with the main processor. It will enable the smartwatches to experience redefined audio quality, display and sensor, it makes the smartwatches more powerful and smart.
As per the specs, Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip comes in three variants supporting the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi model, GPS based smartwatches and 4G LTE models of smartwatches. The 4G LTE model with this chip is capable to give up to 1gbps download speed and 150mbps upload speed, the big breakthrough for smartwatch industry.
The smart wearables having the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset will compete with the Apple Watches and Samsung’s smartwatches. Apple is ready to launch its next Watch Series 4 this week and Samsung has launched its Galaxy Watch in the market. The first smartwatch having this chipset will be Montblanc Summit 2, which might launch next month in select countries.
