Samsung Has Weak Position In Feature Phones Category

After cheap 4G plans, Jio has manufactured many affordable smartphones for basic users and last year Reliance decided to launch its own mobile phones in feature phone category. Jio Phone is launched in 2017’s last quarter and getting great sale ratio till now. This feature phone is raised from zero to 26% in very short period and it is getting amazing response from customers. Recently Jio is offering 50 percent extra data on selected per day data plans. The news is, Jio feature phone and Redmi Note 4 are top mobile phones of 2017’s Q4. These companies have grabbed all shares on the basic phone war.

This amazing success of Jio featurephone took Samsung off from its top first position. Regarding this, Samsung Smartphone company went from 25% to 15% down in the ratio of sale. As per the news Reliance started selling and shipping of Jio Phone in fourth quarter and has taken big shares of full year’s shipment percentage of all mobile phones, share of 11% market. This all data is based only on Shipment numbers not on other ratings.

Samsung Market Shares

As per shipping ratio of feature phones, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is also on top of the list. Xiaomi was founded in 2010 entrepreneur Lei Jun, they said that high quality technologies doesn’t need to cost a fortune. Xiaomi is the latest smartphone company who is growing too fast. In just 3 years of period it has increased its market shares in the country. Jio on the other hand targeting low budget phones to sale its 4G SIMs.

In the feature phone Samsung has Guru Music series & Samsung Metro series mobiles, comes with handy features. Reliance Jio is playing master card here with releasing its all Jio apps on the phone, makes it perfect feature phone in this budget. Airtel & Vodafone also launching their budget phones in the market. It means in the coming days competition into the market will be too high. What do you think, Samsung will get all the shares of this category which it has lost in the previous few months?
