Timex Announces Metropolitan Watches with Help of Huami

Last year, Timex & Huami joined hand in hand to work on their next products. In the deal, Huami promised to make a smartwatch lineup for Timex, the vintage wrist watchmaker. The watches were recently leaked by and also reviewed by the Digital Trends team. The Timex Metropolitan S & Metropolitan R now officially announced with surprising designs. The first R model copies design of Huami’s successor Amazfit GTR and the other S model adopts the design of Apple Watch or Amazfit GTS. They could have brought unique, but they decided to go with a popular motif in the market.

The Engadget team discovered the copied design and the software features of Metropolitan watches. When the review unit reached the Engadget office, and they tore it apart, then they found out the Amazfit logo on the main watch face. Later, Timex said that was the pre-production unit, and everything will be changed after the official release. Timex is a big name in the watch industry, and it could have gone with a unique design to make its lineup. The Metropolitan R has a 1.2-inch screen with Always-on display.

Metropolitan S offers the same screen but in the rectangular display. Timex has introduced 20 new watch faces for both smartwatches, and later more dials will come in future firmware. These are not running on the Wear OS platform. Huami & Timex has made a proprietary operating system to run the watches. The Timex Metropolitan R & S models available for $179 in the US market. The customers can buy them from June 10.
