In the progressive partnership, Huami & watchmaker Timex made a deal to create a new smartwatch lineup. In the deal, Chinese wearable makers will help Timex to build smartwatches to compete in the market. Recently, the FCC document had revealed few known specs for the upcoming watch & its feature. Timex has named its watch Metropolitan & there will be four variants for specific customers. In that two watches carry rectangular displays, named Metropolitan R & the other two carries circular display, named Metropolitan S. Now, the popular website DigitalTrends has revealed more leaks about one of the smartwatch.
The DigitalTrends had a chance to get their hands on the Timex Metropolitan R smartwatch that reveals some of the key elements. The smartwatch will come with 42mm circular case, 1.2-inch touch screen with Always-on display. The Huami’s Amazfit GTS also comes with the same configuration. The watch has made by Huami so we can think it has made inspired by the GTS smartwatch. In the other features, users will get GPS, heart rate, sleep, different sports mode, but it will NFC function. At least, Huami watch supports NFC in China but never comes with the function in other countries.
In the battery department, the Timex Metropolitan R offers 12 days of battery life. It is too lower than any other smartwatch that launched in the market. The Huawei Watch GT 2e, Honor Magic Watch 2, Amazfit T-Rex, and many other devices run up to 14 days in a single charge. The Metropolitan R will go on sale from June 16, and you can purchase it on the Timex website. It is the start of Timex in the smartwatch field, and we think in the future the company will make more serious watches that compete with major rivals like Apple Watch & Galaxy Watch.
