Mi Band 5 will have SpO2, Alexa & Menstrual Cycle Functions

May 21, 2020

As we revealed most of the features of the Mi Band 5, Xiaomi has confirmed almost all of it. The new fitness tracker launched with a larger display, more fitness activities, women’s health, and magnetic charging. Each year, Xiaomi launches Mi Bands with a larger display; this one comes with a 1.1-inch AMOLED screen, compared to 0.95-inch on Mi Band 4. The more prominent display means more room for menus and features. The SpO2 function is missing on the fifth-generation tracker, though we guess it will launch later in a future update.

The magnetic charging is a new concept for the tracker and lets users charge it without removing the main capsule. There are five more activities, and Xiaomi calls them ‘Professional modes’ that will help users in many ways. The NFC function will do more than ever in contactless payments, like in transport, shopping centers, and malls. You can choose between NFC & non-NFC models as per your price plans.

Also, we highly believe in the NFC model to launch in other countries, like the Mi Band 4 NFC in Russia. The PAI function is a new way to track your health and its impact on your body. The 125mAh battery will last longer for 14 days on a full charge. For women wearers, Xiaomi has introduced women’s health tools that include menstrual cycle and ovulation monitoring.

Apart from it, Mi Band 5 sports heart rate, swim, sleep, and breath monitoring with 50% more accurate PPG sensors than Band 4. The non-NFC version is priced at 189 Yuan ($27), and the NFC version is available for 229 Yuan ($32) in China. The sales for the Mi Band 5 will start in China on June 18. The global rollout of the fitness band is somewhere in July or August.
