Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18e could feature the A20 chipset, a 48MP rear camera, and a 24MP selfie camera, according to a new leak. However, the affordable iPhone may retain its 60Hz OLED display, meaning users hoping for smoother scrolling could be disappointed. The information comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who shared the alleged specifications on Weibo. Apple has not officially confirmed the iPhone 18e or its hardware details.
iPhone 18e May Get a 6.12-Inch OLED Display
According to the leak, the iPhone 18e will feature a 6.12-inch LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. This would keep the screen experience largely unchanged from the previous generation. While OLED technology should deliver deep blacks and vibrant colors, the 60Hz refresh rate could be a drawback for users who prefer smoother animations and scrolling. Many competing Android smartphones offer higher refresh rates, making this a notable limitation for Apple’s entry-level iPhone.
A 120Hz ProMotion display is not expected on this model based on the current information. However, the final specifications could change before launch.
A20 Chip Could Bring a Major Performance Upgrade
One of the most interesting rumored upgrades is the Apple A20 chipset. The processor is expected to use a 2nm manufacturing process, potentially improving performance and power efficiency compared with the 3nm A19 chip used in the iPhone 17e.
If this information proves accurate, the iPhone 18e could deliver faster processing, better support for demanding applications, and improved efficiency. These benefits could also help the phone remain capable for several years. An earlier report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also pointed to the A20 chip and suggested the device could have 9GB of RAM. However, neither specification has been officially confirmed.
48MP Rear Camera and Possible 24MP Selfie Camera

The iPhone 18e is rumored to retain a single 48MP rear camera. This matches the resolution of the iPhone 17e’s main camera, although details about the sensor and any other hardware changes remain unknown.
The front camera could receive a more noticeable upgrade, moving from 12MP to 24MP. If accurate, this could improve selfie detail, particularly in well-lit conditions. Actual image quality will also depend on the sensor, lens, and Apple’s image processing.
iPhone 18e Launch Timeline
Apple could introduce the iPhone 18e in spring 2027, potentially alongside the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2. This timing would follow the March launch of the iPhone 17e.
For now, the iPhone 18e appears to be a modest upgrade overall, with its new chipset and possible selfie camera improvement standing out. Its pricing, battery capacity, and final specifications remain unknown.
