Apple has released iOS 27.0.1, the first maintenance update for iOS 27. It brings no new features and focuses on bug fixes, several of which affect the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. You can download it now by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Face ID Restart Issue on iPhone 18 Pro
The main fix is for a Face ID bug on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. According to Apple, some devices could restart unexpectedly when Face ID failed to authenticate. Users reported that a failed attempt could freeze the phone before it rebooted, which was especially annoying when opening apps protected by Face ID.
Apple had already acknowledged the problem and promised a software fix, and iOS 27.0.1 delivers it. Affected owners can also take this as a sign that the restarts were a software bug, not a confirmed hardware failure.
iPhone 18 Pro Camera Color Artifact
The update also fixes a camera problem that affected a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max units. In certain lighting conditions, photos taken at 2x zoom with the aperture set to f/1.48 could show a color artifact. iOS 27.0.1 resolves it.
Touchscreen Unresponsive in Notification Center and Control Center
Apple also fixed a bug where opening Notification Center and Control Center at the same time could make the touchscreen stop responding.
