Samsung has just released another software update for the Galaxy S26 series, and this one comes only hours after the stable One UI 9 update started rolling out. Yes, Samsung is already pushing another update to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The new firmware is currently rolling out in Europe and comes with build number BZIG. The download size is around 550 megabytes, so this is not a tiny update. But what exactly is Samsung changing? The biggest change is the October 2026 security patch.
This update is based on Android 17 and One UI 9, so Galaxy S26 users who have already installed the stable One UI 9 update are now getting another package focused mainly on security. Samsung has not listed major new features with this release. Instead, the company is using this update to improve device security and potentially address smaller issues that may have appeared during the One UI 9 rollout.
And the timing is interesting. The stable One UI 9 update itself is a major upgrade for the Galaxy S26 series. It brings new Galaxy AI features, Quick Panel changes, Samsung Health improvements, better privacy controls, Bixby updates, and several other changes.
Now, just hours after that major release, Samsung is already pushing another firmware package. This could be part of Samsung’s normal security update schedule, especially because the new firmware carries the October 2026 security patch.
On your Galaxy S26 series phone, you can check for the update manually. Go to Settings, Software update, then Download and install. Keep in mind that Samsung is releasing this update in stages, so you may not see it immediately. It may be released soon in South Korea, the US, Canada, and India in the coming days.
