Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 Pro could bring a major hardware upgrade with next-generation memory and storage technology. According to a new leak, both flagship smartphones may feature LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.1 storage. However, there is still some uncertainty around these specifications.
The leak comes from tipster TheGalox_, who claims that the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra could use LPDDR6 memory along with UFS 5.1 storage. If accurate, this would represent a significant upgrade over the current Galaxy S26 Ultra, which uses LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
LPDDR6 could improve both performance and power efficiency. Samsung says its LPDDR6 technology can deliver up to 114GB/s of memory bandwidth while offering up to 21% better power efficiency compared with LPDDR5X. The additional bandwidth could be particularly useful for demanding on-device AI features and multitasking.
However, the latest leak conflicts with previous reports. Qualcomm’s promotional material for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 reportedly points to UFS 5.0, rather than UFS 5.1. Another report also suggested that LPDDR6 could be limited to a 16GB configuration.
Samsung has already validated a 16GB LPDDR6 solution for Qualcomm’s next-generation mobile platform, adding some credibility to the possibility. Still, there is no official confirmation that the Galaxy S27 Ultra or S27 Pro will use this configuration. For now, the Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 Pro memory specifications remain unconfirmed, and Samsung could reveal different configurations when the phones officially launch.
