iPhone 18 Pro Gets Smaller Dynamic Island With Support for Three Live Activities

iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island Features

Apple is preparing for one of its biggest iPhone launches yet, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max expected to debut at the company’s September 9, 2026 event. The upcoming Pro models are rumored to bring major improvements to the display, cameras, performance, cooling, and battery life. One of the most interesting upgrades could be a smaller Dynamic Island that does much more than the current version.

iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island Could Show Three Tasks

According to recent findings, Apple is preparing a new Dynamic Island mode in iOS 27 that can display three Live Activities at the same time, compared with two on current iPhone models.

The discovery is particularly interesting because the required sensor area for the new mode appears to be much narrower. The iOS 27 code reportedly requires a sensor region measuring less than 100 layout points, equivalent to around 16.57mm. By comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro’s sensor region is around 20.76mm.

This suggests Apple has managed to reduce the physical footprint of the components around the Dynamic Island, giving iOS more room to display information while making the cutout look smaller.

The result could be a cleaner-looking iPhone 18 Pro display while allowing users to monitor more activities simultaneously, such as a timer, food delivery, and live sports score.

Major Camera Upgrade Coming

The iPhone 18 Pro camera could also receive one of its biggest upgrades in years. Apple is reportedly working on a variable or mechanical aperture for the main camera, giving users greater control over how much light enters the lens and potentially improving portrait photography and low-light performance.

The Pro models are also expected to receive upgraded camera sensors and improved image processing, while the Pro Max could get some camera features that are not available on the smaller Pro model.

Better Performance and Cooling

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to use Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, reportedly manufactured using a 2nm process. This could deliver better performance while improving power efficiency.

Apple is also reportedly upgrading the vapor chamber cooling system. This should help the phones maintain higher performance during demanding gaming, video recording, and AI workloads.

Other rumored upgrades include a more efficient LTPO+ display, larger battery capacity, a possible Apple C2 modem, and new color options.

With a smaller Dynamic Island, three-activity support, upgraded cameras, A20 Pro performance, and improved cooling, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could be among Apple’s most significant Pro upgrades yet.
