What’s Hiding in the Code
1. Exposure Scopes — A histogram and waveform display could let photographers judge exposure in real time, showing exactly which parts of a shot are blown out or underexposed before the shutter even clicks.
2. Focus Peaking + Highlight Warnings — Borrowed straight from professional filmmaking workflows, these overlays highlight in-focus edges with a colored outline and flag overexposed areas using stripes, checkerboard patterns, or pulsing colors.
3. Burst Self-Timer Shots — Rather than a single timed photo, the Camera app appears ready to fire off consecutive self-timer shots back-to-back, with the countdown restarting instantly after each capture.
4. Manual Focus Lock — A dedicated manual focus control, similar to Apple’s Final Cut Camera app, has resurfaced after being stripped from an earlier iOS 26 beta. Notably, the code restricts this feature to devices running iOS 27 or later — a strong hint it’s reserved for the newest hardware.
5. Aperture-Aware Image Correction — Perhaps the most telling clue: iOS 27 can now adjust lens corrections based on aperture setting, blending between multiple reference points. This lines up neatly with long-standing rumors that the iPhone 18 Pro will introduce a variable aperture main camera, something no iPhone has offered before.
