    Update (04 July): Again Xiaomi took the time to release new software for the fifth generation tracker. It is now releasing firmware version V1.0.2.76 for the Mi Smart Band 5 in major countries. The last update for Band 5 was released at the end of August 2021. It means almost after a year, the company released a new version. As changelog only mentions fixing some bugs, we can’t expect anything new in the update. For better performance, install new software on your smart band.

    Update (30/08): After a long gap, Xiaomi’s fifth-gen Mi Band 5 is getting a new firmware version. The latest software comes with firmware version V1.0.2.66 to the wristband. With the latest piece of code, the company has enhanced the user interface which is smooth & faster in loading. As per some users, you can see menus & functions load much faster.

    It doesn’t bring any new functionality to the activity tracker. To check for the latest update, make sure you are on the latest Mi Fit app version. Later, you will get notified on your smart tracker.

The new version identified as V1.0.2.46 now rolls out to provide more stability and to improve the overall quality of the Mi Band. The changelog doesn’t reveal anything about the new version, so we have to dig more into the Mi Fit features or the tracker. The last version with major changes had dispatched with REM sleep and camera remote control features, but this one is not the major one.

    As per the leaked source code & the data from other sources, Xiaomi will soon launch a new body temperature function to measure it and compare it with other external devices. It says the features will not only available for Mi Band 5 but also for Mi Band 2, Mi Band 3, Mi Band 4 & Amazfit Band 5. At this point, we don’t have too much information about the major changes in the upcoming firmware, so we have to wait a while for its dispatch.

    To get the V1.0.2.46 update, you have to install the Mi Fit app to the newer 4.8.0 app version. Later, open the Mi Fit app, go to your Xiaomi band, and then head to Check for Updates. The new firmware version is available to install in major countries including the US, the UK, India, and many other countries.

    Samsung is now releasing the third One UI 4.5 beta update for Galaxy Watch 4 series. Like the second beta update, it also focuses on various bug fixes and improvements. As per the changelog, it has fixed the tile backup and restore problem in the watch face GUI section. It also mentions improving the system UI crash problem when pushing Home button during scrolling. It could mean some users on the previous version were facing this issue.

    This month is really busy for Garmin. It has released major software updates for all its major smartwatches including Fenix 6 & Fenix 7 series. At the beginning of June, it released a stable 22.10 version for the six-gen Fenix watches that brought plenty of new functions. Now, in the same month, Garmin is releasing a second update for the Fenix 6 lineup. The latest 22.73 Alpha version is now rolling out for the watches.

    The new alpha version includes eBike activity support and a power key control menu item for RCT. The heart rate monitoring has received an updated version, and now, it will alert you when your heart rate exceeds the normal value. The VO2 Max feature which is helpful for regular exercisers will now get four weeks of data. Further, you will receive better VO2 Max results while cycling.
