Messenger App could return to the Wear OS, Spotted in Play Store

The popular free calls & messages app, Facebook Messenger has been Spotted in the Watch App section of the Play Store. The Messenger app was removed by the company a few years back due to some limitations. Now, looks like it is time for the app to return to the Wear OS platform. We have today spotted the official Messenger app in the Watch App section of the Play Store for Wear OS. First, we thought it could be a mistake by the Google team, but now for a long time, we can feel its presence in the Play Store. Now, slowly many users are witnessing it in the Play Store.

The Messenger app is present in the ‘More apps for your watch’ section of the Watch App. The section also mentions Google team has picked their favorite apps for your smartwatch. We have paired our Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch with the Android smartphone, however, it is not letting us download it. And It is still in the watch section at the time of writing this article. It indicates, Facebook may be testing the Messenger app for Wear OS 3 watches, or it may also working with Wear OS 2 watches.

In recent, we have received YouTube Music, Komoot, and Sleep Cycle apps for the Wear OS watches. It is the sign, more popular apps including Messenger are coming to the smartwatches. There is a chance, Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic may get the app before other smartwatches. Since the beginning, the app was part of Wear OS, but later, the company had abandoned the Wear OS platform like Telegram.
