Xiaomi may be Working on a Wear OS-Powered Watch

Xiaomi is the king in the fitness tracker lineup. Its Mi Band series is no doubt kingmaker in the journey, and there is no competition for it from any companies including Samsung or Fitbit. It’s true, it enjoys the first spot in activity trackers, but the thing is different in the smartwatch lineup. Xiaomi completely failed in the watch market and fell behind Huami & Huawei. To make it history, Xiaomi might be planning to launch its new watch with the Wear OS platform.

According to the early sources, the company may be planning for it, and in the same year, we can see the first Wear OS device. For a long time, it neglected the power of Google’s watch OS for its home-nurtured MIUI Watch OS, which is fine in its area.

With the adoption of the new OS, Xiaomi will get access to more functions, Google services, and third-party app support. Since 2021, Wear OS has changed dramatically in major areas and its performance has enhanced. It could drive a major force to the watches to bring more users.

Xiaomi Wear OS Watch

We know the case study of Samsung which became the number one player in the premium watch segment after joining the Wear OS squad. Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 5 are now became a true rival to the Apple Watches. Xiaomi could do the same to attract more users apart from its smartphone users.

There is no official backup for the news, and we might get confirmation news soon. Xiaomi recently launched the Watch S1 Pro with a proprietary OS with premium-like features. It is also working on the next Mi Band 8 & Band 8 Pro possibly launching the first half.
