Galaxy Watch 5 may Charge its Battery Using Solar-Powered Strap

The latest Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic has launched in major countries with a massive response. It still has to reach the hand of many users, and now we are hearing Samsung is developing its next smartwatch. The latest patent spotted at USPTO hints the company is working on the next-gen Galaxy Watch. It is not breaking news, because Samsung does it every year and launches at least one smartwatch. As per the documents at ASPTO, the new Galaxy Watch might be powered with solar energy.

The strap on the next Galaxy Watch 5 could be energized by solar power, mentions revealed documents. The company might be finally tired of delivering poor battery life on its smartwatches. It becomes even worse when Samsung switched to Wear OS 3 from Tizen OS, who for God’s sake runs for two days in normal mode.

The patent showcase the Galaxy Watch equipped with a wrist strap embedded with solar cells, reports LetsGoDigital. Furthermore, Samsung may build a special smart strap that has solar batteries on each side to continuously charge it.

Galaxy Watch 5 Solar Energy Strap

The patent has filed in mid-2019, so tipsters are baiting on the next Galaxy Watch 5 or Watch 5 Classic. Samsung is not the only or first company to introduce solar-powered watches. The fitness-centric brand, Garmin has Fenix 6 & Instinct lineup to get its energy from the sun.

Casio is another company that is selling solar-powered watches in the market. It is too early to come to predict anything, but if Samsung becomes successful, then we can leave our chargers at home and go out on long vacation.
