Huawei Nova Update Tracker: Nova Y70 Gets First 12.0.0.144 Firmware

Update (Aug 02): The newly launched Huawei Nova Y70 smartphone is witnessing its first EMUI firmware update. The software version 12.00.144 is coming to improve the camera quality, and stabilize other functions on the device. The Nova Y70 has an AI triple camera framework on the rear side, and the new file will help to enhance its quality. Finally, the new file incorporates the May security patch on the smartphone to ensure its security. Huawei Nova Y70 users in outside China can install the new version.

Update (July 29): The Huawei Nova 4 family is finally getting the latest July software update based on HarmonyOS. The firmware version has upgraded to 2.0.0.268 from the previous update. It is not a big software to change everything on the Nova 4 series smartphones. It will deal with the most essential part, and that is its optimization and security. It is applicable for both Huawei Nove 4 & Nova 4e and is available to install in the home country. After HarmonyOS 3.0 announcement, it is the first update for Nova 4.

Update (July 15): As per the report coming from China, Huawei is going to release HarmonyOS 3.0 software at the end of July. It is a major update for Huawei phones, and it will bring many features. It has been confirmed by Huawei Cloud Payment Business Group Chairman Ma. The firmware is currently open for developers, and soon end users can use it. There is no confirmation which devices will get the major update. Of Course, HarmonyOS 3.0 will come for the Huawei Nova series.

Update (Dec 03): Huawei has opened its beta testing program for the Nova 5T smartphone. The users can now join the EMUI 12 beta testing to access the early version. It is now live for limited users and recruits on a first come first get basis. The EMUI 12 beta has previously opened for Huawei Mate P40, P40 Pro+, P40 Pro & P30 Pro devices. It is an opportunity for Nova 5T users to use new features before everyone else, but there may be some errors and instability in the code. After using it, you can send error logs and other issues to the company, so they could improve them.

Update (Nov 29): The Nova 9 series is seeing itself on the EMUI version 12.0.1.175 software version. The optimization version enhances the camera quality on the device along with the display interface. It has improved the WeChat video call experience on the Huawei Nova 9 to give a better user experience. The WeChat app is popular in China, and also among Huawei users. It is the update for Nova 9 & Nova 9 Pro Chinese variants of the device, and the global version has received firmware version 2.0.1.169.

Update (Nov 27): Huawei is now dispatching a new software update for the Nova 8 SE model. The latest firmware brings a November security patch to heal all the minor issues on the phone that could compromise on user’s experience. It gets HarmonyOS 2 powered 2.0.0.217 build number, as per the reports. It is the 4G variant of the Huawei Nova 8 SE, and currently getting it in China. In the Huawei Nova series, Nova 3 is now receiving 2.0.0.125 software based on HarmonyOS 2.0 version. It is the second software from the company in a single month. In the previous version, Huawei has improved smartphones with added features and security. In the new version, it fixed the alarm vibration settings issue which does not take effect. Further, it solved a problem with abnormal display and dial interface in some scenarios, reports HuaweiCentral.

The Huawei Nova 3 still runs on the October security patch on the HM OS 2 package. To download a new version, go to Settings, then System & updates, and finally Software update. It has been spotted in China and may come to other regions in the coming days or weeks. Users can also visit the My Huawei app for the latest version. In the app, open the Update tab, and then Check for updates.

It is a bit tricky to install firmware from the My health app, and you have to follow some instructions. After the launch of the new Nova 9 & Nova 9 Pro, the existing Nova 3 users thought the support will be reduced for their devices, but Huawei has done good work.
