Why Google Assistant is Missing on Galaxy Watch 4? Samsung’s Excuses!

It’s almost six months, and still, there is no sign of Google Assistant on Galaxy Watch 4. At the launching of a new smartwatch on Wear OS 3, Samsung made a word to bring all the Google & its features on this new platform. In the event, the company said some services and apps will come later, Google Assistant & Google Pay are some of them. Google Pay is available in some regions, but Google Assistant is completely missing from Galaxy Watch 4. It should have been supported by now.

Then what are the reasons for Google’s missing Assistant app on Wear OS 3-based Samsung Watch? As per the information, we have collected, there are two major reasons for it.

First, the Galaxy Watch moderator at the Samsung Community platform stated, the device is not compatible to run Google Assistant.

He clearly mentions, the watch is not supported for the voice assistant from Google. We don’t believe in such an explanation from the official person, because Galaxy Watch 4 & its Classic variant are capable to run any apps. The smartwatch supports heavy apps like Samsung Internet, Strava, Komoot apps, so this is no excuse to get an Assistant app.

Second, Samsung may don’t want the competition to its heavily invested Bixby service.

The second reason could be valid in this case. For many years, Samsung has been investing time & money in Bixby services, so it doesn’t want any competition from Google Assistant. In many voice services and commands, users have witnessed Assistant is superior to the Bixby. Samsung’s voice service is new and lacking in many areas like recognizing various accents like Indian English.

Third, it could launch later in a major update or along with Galaxy Watch 5.

Yes, this is possible. If Samsung delays the launching of Assistant on Watch 4, then users only have one option to use, and that is Bixby. When users get friendly with the company’s voice service, then users don’t require another app. The recent Bixby event & awards in South Korea is a sign of it, that Samsung is now serious about it.

Finally, you may be waiting for Google Assistant for a long time on Galaxy Watch 4, but it is not coming soon. Many users have asked/requested/complained about it on many forums, but there is no official word from Samsung & Google.
