Why Camera Controller Missing on Galaxy Watch 5 & Watch 5 Pro

Galaxy Watch 5 & Watch 5 Pro are now the two most advanced smartwatches on the market. Samsung worked on every corner to upgrade fifth-gen watches. The ECG & BP functions are improved, the display has received sapphire glass, the battery got bigger, and it has new features. It has everything that users expect from a premium smartwatch. But wait, still, you don’t see every feature on the new watch. Yes, you are not alone.

In the world of Samsung, not all functions are available for every user. Like non-Android users can not use ECG, BP, skin temperature, and body composition functions. Further, if you notice, then the camera controller is also missing for many users. Yes, the basic function, which is now supported on most of the entry-level smartwatches and fitness trackers.

The camera controller supports basic watches like Boat Storm Pro, Noise Colorfit Pro 4, Mi Smart Band 7, and many others. Now, the question is why such expensive watches like Galaxy Watch 5 or Watch 5 Pro don’t have it in the first place.

Now, I will explain, why it is missing on your watch, not all watches, but your watch.

The camera controller function only supports high-end Galaxy smartphones. Yes, you heard right. It only works with Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z series devices. In the app description, you can read that only premium smartphones will get the support.

Camera Controller on Galaxy Watch 5

Now, what are those smartphones? These are Galaxy S9 to Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Note 9 to Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Z Fold to Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip to Flip 4 smartphones.

Users with only these Galaxy devices can use a camera controller on their Galaxy Watch 5 or Watch 5 Pro. I am not sure, why Samsung wants to keep it exclusive for specific users when this function is widely available on the cheapest smartwatches and fitness trackers.
